Streamline Your DevOps with Tikit and Azure DevOps Integration

In today’s fast-paced development environment, efficiency and seamless workflows are key to staying ahead. Imagine having a single pane of glass where you users can create and monitor incidents and service requests, along with bugs and feature requests, all integrated with your development team’s tools. That’s exactly what we demonstrate in our latest Tikit Demo Series.

In this session, we highlight Tikit’s ability to natively integrate with Azure DevOps, leveraging the Tikit Power Automate connector. This integration streamlines your processes, allowing for automatic updates and effortless management of work items. Here’s a deep dive into how this integration can transform your workflow.

The Power of Integration

A common request from our customers is the ability to provide a unified interface for their end users. This interface should not only facilitate the creation of incidents or service requests but also allow for bugs and feature requests to be seamlessly transferred to the development team. The goal? To create an associated work item in Azure DevOps, enabling developers to track and manage it through to release in Azure DevOps, then automatically resolve and communicate the update back to the end user.

Seamless Automation with Power Automate

Thanks to our Power Automate connector, Tikit can integrate effortlessly with Azure DevOps. Both platforms have connectors that enable bidirectional communication, ensuring that actions in one system are mirrored in the other. This setup means that when a bug or feature request is created in Tikit, it automatically appears in Azure DevOps as a work item and once released it automatically resolves the request in Tikit.

Here’s how it works:

User-Friendly Ticket Submission

  • End users can submit bugs or feature requests through Tikit Virtual Agent.
  • Ticket Virtual Agent processes these requests, presenting the appropriate forms and creating the necessary tickets within Tikit.

Automatic Assignment and Updates

  • Once a bug or feature request is created, it is automatically assigned to the relevant development team in Tikit.
  • Power Automate listens for the creation of these tickets and triggers the creation of corresponding work items in Azure DevOps.

Bi-Directional Communication

  • As developers work on these items in Azure DevOps, any updates or changes are automatically communicated back to Tikit.
  • When a work item is released in Azure DevOps, Power Automate resolves the corresponding ticket in Tikit and notifies the end user via Tikit Virtual Agent.

Real-World Application in our Demo

During the demo, Adele, the end user, files a bug and a feature request. Diego, the agent, receives these tickets in Tikit and sees them reflected in Azure DevOps. This real-time synchronization ensures that the development team can work on the items immediately and efficiently.

When the work items are released or closed in Azure DevOps, the ticket in Tikit is updated to reflect these changes. For instance, when a bug is fixed and the work item is closed, Tikit automatically marks the ticket as resolved and sends a notification to Adele, informing her of the update.

Setting Up Power Automate Flows

To achieve this seamless integration, two Power Automate flows are leveraged:

Creating Work Items in Azure DevOps

  • Power Automate listens for new bugs or feature requests created in Tikit and creates corresponding work items in Azure DevOps.
  • Power Automate categorizes the requests and updates both systems with necessary information, such as external Tikit IDs, ensuring clear linkage between the systems.

Releasing Work Items and Resolving Corresponding Tickets

  • Power Automate monitors work items in Azure DevOps and triggers when those respective work items are released.
  • Power Automate then updates the corresponding tickets in Tikit, marking them as resolved and adding comments to notify end users of the release.

Conclusion

By integrating Tikit with Azure DevOps using Power Automate, organizations can significantly enhance their workflow efficiency. This integration not only reduces manual effort, but also ensures that all stakeholders are kept informed throughout the process. The result is a streamlined, automated system that supports rapid development and deployment, enhancing overall productivity and user satisfaction.
